Instructions
- Select a file and hashing algorithm.
- Calculate the checksum.
- Optionally paste the expected checksum to compare.
Understanding your result
An identical expected and calculated checksum means the selected file matches that expected digest under the same algorithm. Compare against a value supplied through a source you trust. Two different algorithms produce different digests for the same file, so select the right one.
What to do if you have a problem
If the comparison fails, check the algorithm, pasted digest and selected file version. If hashing is unavailable, use a browser exposing Web Crypto on HTTPS or localhost. A match is useful for integrity checking, but it cannot make an untrusted download trustworthy by itself.
What to know before using the result
Maximum file size 100 MB. Hashes do not establish a file’s trustworthiness unless the expected value comes from a trusted source. Requires browser Web Crypto on HTTPS or localhost.

Summary
Compare the calculated digest with a trusted expected value using the same hashing algorithm.
