Instructions

  1. Paste text and choose encode or decode.
  2. Review the output and status message. Use the download button to save a copy.

Understanding your result

Encoding A & B gives A & B for use as text in HTML. Decoding reverses recognized character references. The output stays text in this tool. Converting entities does not establish that a larger HTML fragment is safe to execute.

What to do if you have a problem

If an entity remains unchanged, check its name and terminating semicolon. Use Encode or Decode for the direction you need. If an ampersand appears repeatedly encoded, return to the original input rather than applying another conversion to already converted output.

What to know before using the result

Maximum 500,000 characters. Decodes semicolon-terminated named and numeric entities; unknown names remain unchanged. Encoding replaces &, <, >, quotation marks and apostrophes. This is not an HTML sanitizer.

Files and text are held in this page while you work. Downloads are saved through your browser. Reloading or closing the tab clears the working page; a downloaded copy remains in your device's download location.

Summary

Use the converted character references as text, with separate checks for any larger HTML content.
